[London, 4 June 2026] – BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) announces that Robert-Alexandre Poujade, Biodiversity Lead at BNPP AM, will co-chair a new working group, tasked with creating a nature transition framework, alongside Emine Isciel, Head of Climate and Environment at Storebrand Asset Management. The group will be coordinated by Julen Gonzalez, Technical Director at Finance for Biodiversity (FfB) Foundation.
This development underscores BNPP AM’s leadership in promoting the importance of biodiversity conservation and the role of finance in supporting a nature-positive economy. Stakeholder engagement is central to BNPP AM’s commitment, accelerating progress whilst including clients, investors, and policymakers. Building on the efforts and strategic direction established since the launch of BNPP AM’s Biodiversity Roadmap in 2021, this initiative marks the next phase in BNPP AM’s commitment to improve the environmental impact of its investments.
The FfB Foundation working group will explore the following key areas:
-
The role of financial institutions in scaling credible nature transition finance globally
-
Translating this role into a practical framework to guide financial decision-making
-
Ensuring the framework and model support alignment with the global nature-positive goal and guides financial decision-making accordingly.
The framework will aim to support financial institutions in identifying companies that are credibly transitioning toward alignment with the global nature-positive goal. It will be consistent with existing guidance and frameworks from both the climate and nature fields, as well as with emerging practices from the FfB and wider finance community. The framework will be practical and decision-useful, designed for use across the finance sector overall, including asset managers, asset owners, banks and other financial institutions.
More concretely, this new framework will be an opportunity for BNPP AM’s investment teams to develop dedicated methodologies across our investment platforms, as well as in its fund offering. BNPP AM believes greater clarity in defining nature transition for corporates will be helpful for the asset owner community and its clients.
Robert-Alexandre Poujade, Biodiversity Lead at BNP Paribas Asset Management, said: “I am honoured to co-chair this new working group, which aims to harness the energy and ideas of the FfB community and partners. We heard the call that we need the equivalent of net zero for nature. That insight sparked the genesis of this initiative. Working towards a nature-positive financial system is an ambitious goal but could be difficult to achieve if nature remains absent from transition discussions and corporates lack financial incentives to transition. I look forward to implementing this nature transition framework alongside our investment teams.
Jane Ambachtsheer, Global Head of Sustainability at BNPP AM, said: “There is growing awareness of the critical impact of biodiversity loss on the economy. By co-chairing this new working group, BNPP AM reinforces its commitment to be a leading player in the transition to a more sustainable economy. We look forward to continuing to evolve our partnership with the FfB Foundation, and to providing our clients with the tools and resources they need to take action.”
